Rare perfect cribbage hand turns up at Golden Age Club…
by Cheryl Hardcastle
For the first time in 10 years of the Tecumseh Golden Age Cribbage Club’s weekly games, somebody had a perfect hand. That Friday afternoon of January 20, 2006 there was a bit of a hoopla over Helen Johnson’s luck. She had three 5’s and the Jack of clubs in her hand and wouldn’t you know, it was her partner Rose Kavanaugh that cut the cards and turned up the 5 of clubs.

“That’s worth 29 points, the most you can get,” says Joe Desmarias, who runs the club. “To get 19 is the worst, no points in your hand and that sure happens more often, he chuckles.

The Tecumseh Golden Age Cribbage Club meets every Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Tecumseh Golden Age Club. There are usually 12-16 players on those afternoons and they welcome more players to join in. For more information call the Tecumseh Golden Age Club at 735-6455.
