With 122 awesome entires to judge in the Corn Festival Colouring Contest, it was a difficult task to determine the winners. OPP Cornfest Cook Off - A contest in good taste...
The Cornfest Cook Off was a new contest to the Corn Festival this year. Sponsored by the Ontario Provincial Police, cooks got creative in the kitchen and came up with delicious dishes that featured corn. Thanks to the judges: Sgt. Body of missing man located
The Essex OPP Marine Unit and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit searched Lake St. Clair after a report was received on Friday, September 2, 2005, around 4:45pm from some residents in the area that a Seadoo had capsized about 200 metres off shore just west of Manning Road. A woman and her son were reportedly passengers on the back of a Seadoo when it capsized. She was picked up and transported to shore but she reported that her son was missing and was last seen swimming to shore. ... [read more]

Senior of the Year awarded at Cornfest
Most people know this friendly and energetic lady as “Aunt Jo.” She has lived in Tecumseh since 1948 where she raised six children and was heavily involved in their school activities and Scouting. A long-time member of Ste. Anne’s Parish, she has also been a long term member of the Royal Canadian Legion, through Branch 261 in Tecumseh, and considers this affiliation a highlight of her life. Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara was re-elected to represent the interests of the Small Urban Caucus in the Province of Ontario at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference held August 14-17. “Although we have made key advances in gas tax issue, the MOU and public health we need to continue to press the Province for funding the $3 billion Provincial Municipal fiscal gap”, said McNamara. Schools mark Terry Rox Run 25th anniversary
This year local schools will join millions of students and thousands of schools across Canada at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 16th in "The Terry Fox National School Run". This celebration of 25 years since the beginning of the Marathon of Hope will include all schools in the Greater Essex County District School Board. Festival of Hawks begins on weekend
Hawks, Bald Eagles, Monarch butterflies, Hummingbirds and more can be witnessed at the migration spectacle that is the Festival of Hawks at Holiday Beach Conservation Area, located on County Road 50, near Malden Centre. The Festival of Hawks is held by the Essex Region Conservation Authority in partnership with Holiday Beach Migration Observatory on September 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 2005, 9am to 3pm, when tagging and recording takes place. Local workshop to assist residents in growing native plants
Organizers of an upcoming local workshop will share knowledge and insights on the growing of native trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Tecumseh gets active with grant to fund new Fall programs
With a new Special Program Coordinator in place, Tecumseh is ready to offer new opportunities for recreational activity among seniors. “The goal is to introduce more people to an active lifestyle through these programs, and hopefully they will continue on to enjoy the benefits for years to come.” says Special Program Coordinator Jennifer White. Tecumseh’s Terry Fox Run is set to mark the 25th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope - his brave trek across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Tecumseh joins communities nationwide to hold Terry Fox events on Sunday, September 18, 2005. Come out and walk, run or wheel for two, five or 10 kilometres.
