New playground equipment in Tecumseh’s McAuliffe Park is ready for fun thanks to Saturn of Canada and Gus Revenberg sharing half of the cost of this $40,000 system that was recently installed. Saturn has been helping municipalities to provide playground equipment for 12 years now, as part of their annual Saturn Reunion commitment to give back to the community. Successful pumpkin season… |
Gillian Girard brought in this large pumpkin to share with the students at Victoria during their morning assembly. Last year when she was in Mrs. Bridgen's Grade 1 class, Gillian planted pumpkin and bean seeds into different containers. She watched them grow and eventually planted them in her Grandparents’ garden.
With lots of care, one of the little seeds grew into a large pumpkin that weighs 41 pounds.

This is the tenth year that the VON Flu Immunization Program will provide high quality, convenient flu vaccinations and easy access to health information for Windsor and Essex County residents at their workplaces.

On October 20, 2005, several students from St. Gregory the Great Catholic School joined with students from other Windsor and Essex County Catholic schools to have lunch with Bishop Fabbro. The student selection for the luncheon was based on the best short essay contest entries entitled “Why I would like to meet the Bishop and What questions I would like to ask him”.

No OFC weekend, Town will hold tree lighting event |
In the absence of major sponsor –The Tecumseh BIA – there will be no Olde Fashion Christmas (OFC) event this year. Instead, the Town is planning a one-evening tree-lighting event to take place on Friday, November 25, 2005 at Town Hall. The tree-lightng event traditionally kicked off Olde Fashion Christmas weekends in the past. This year, many of the attractions Tecumseh residents have come to expect on the Friday night of OFC will continue.

Pet Pumpkin Contest a howling success… |
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach held its first ever Pet Pumpkin Contest last Saturday evening at the Optimist Community Centre. Many of the children arrived in halloween costumes to set the mood for a great event.
Each First Place Winner received a family pack of theatre tickets to Lakeshore Cinemas and $10.00 gift Certificate for pizza from Armando's Pizza. Six other youngsters received second place prizes.

Local men building homes in Mexico |
Once again, a group of men from Ste. Anne Parish are heading out to the province of Reynosa in Mexico to help improve the quality of life through construction projects.
This year, 21 men will spend 12 days in the Parish of La Luz community where they will build two 16’ x 16’ houses, paint the new church they started last year which was recently completed by locals and repair another in the flood plain region.

Property Assessment Notices were mailed to more than 155,000 property owners in Windsor and Essex County on October 27, 2005 as part of the province-wide property assessment update.
The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) determines current value assessments and classifications for all properties in Ontario. • The Essex Region Conservation Authority’s draft 2006 budget came before Council showing an overall proposed budget increase of 16.44%. Most significant is an increased budget for land acquisition under the Clean Water~Green Spaces initiative, a 34.62% change over last year. Proposed is $1,050,000 for CW~GS for 2006, compared to $780,000 in 2005. The deer are back |
Every 38 seconds in Ontario a vehicle collides with a wild animal. October, November and December are peak times when deer and other wild animals venture out onto highways as these are their mating and migration time periods. Peak times for collisions are 5 a.m. - 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. In Essex County the deer are now migrating as many crops are being harvested from the fields. Two car-deer collisions have occurred in the past week in Essex County.

Graffiti Busters kicks off in Tecumseh |
Tecumseh has received a “Safer Communities” grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services in the amount of $14,324, which will be used to address the graffiti problem in Tecumseh.
PC Lee Batte, Community Policing Officer for Tecumseh OPP submitted the successful “Safer Communities” grant proposal entitled "Graffiti Busters", in partnership with the Optimist Club of St Clair Beach, earlier this year.
