Tecumseh looses its ‘Little Big Man’ A Memorial Tribute to Duff Lemire |
On December 7, 2005, the Town of Tecumseh lost one of its long time residents, Mr. Adolphe (Duff) Lemire. The Lemire family has been part of the fabric of this community since dating back to the mid 1800’s. The community pride of Duff’s father and his grandfather was passed down to him, a pride he displayed at every opportunity and in recent years through his founding work and continued involvement in the Tecumseh Area Historical Society. Although small in stature, Duff’s contributions to th... [read more]

Transition to City water service on course |
The Town of Tecumseh’s water service will be supplied by the City of Windsor some time in March, 2006. The Town has removed old watermains and installed the interconnections required. What’s left is valve installation on the City of Windsor’s end and then the transition will take place, which Mayor Gary McNamara says will not be noticed by residents.
The Town’s Water treatment Plant will remain in operation until the switch over to Windsor water is complete. The WTP will then be decommissione... [read more]

Input on rail plans to come in due time |
Any future plans for improving the CP rail line – including twinning of the tracks and grade separated crossings – will require an Environmental Assessment, and through that process, Tecumseh and Lakeshore as well as other proponents, will have the opportunity for input on the plans, Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara says.
Recent word on the near completed Rail Rationalization Study, undertaken by the City of Windsor through $350,000 in federal funding from the Border Infrastructure Fund, has C... [read more]

The meeting is to review the Town’s response in meeting minor changes to the secondary plan that were requested by the province.

Town expects announcement for Manning funding soon |
Though other announcements tied to federal funding have been postponed due to the general election, Tecumseh is expecting to hear soon from the province on an application for $5.5 million to fund expansion of Manning Road from the VIA tracks to County Road 22.
This is the last piece of Manning that has to be improved - the provincial-federal commitment to expand Manning from County Road 22 to the 401 is in the works but still years away. Tecumseh is taking care of Manning to the north of the ... [read more]

Budget |
Tecumseh’s 2006 budget has been in administrative preparation for the past eight weeks and Council’s budget sessions are slated to begin in two weeks.
“We should have the 2006 budget in place in February,” Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara said in an interview on January 9, 2006. “It looks like the increase will be inflationary - no surprises,” he said pointing out that the lifecycle costing program the Town began last year helps to ensure infrastructure needs are met. In 10 years the Town’s infra... [read more]
