Packing groceries raises funds for OPP Cop Camp

Janet Hayes, Alessia Wild and mom Renata Wild, and Zehrs cashier Michelle Marentette. The eager Cop Camp volunteers included OPP officers like Tecumseh Detachment Commander Sgt. Rick Tonial, who made packing the groceries efficient work as well as fun. A total of $1200.00 was raised in support of the Annual OPP Cop Camp, to be held this year from August 14 - 18. Forty grade 6 students from the Values Influences and Peers program will be attending the camp.

Egg Farmers of Ontario announced on July 26, 2006 that Tecumseh‘s Halina Karpala has been named as one of the winning moms of the Eggstra® Energy Moms Contest. The contest focused on finding one dozen of the province’s most energetic moms who energize with eggs. The Eggstra Energy Moms Contest ran in May 2006 and invited people to nominate themselves or a mom they know by submitting a 200-word essay describing why their nominee is an Eggstra Energy Mom. Save Lakewood: Same arguments bear repeating
About 300 people attended the July 18, 2006 Public Meeting on the most recent application by Sumatara Investments Ltd. to redevelop Lakewood Golf Course into a residential subdivision. The difference in the proposal, compared to the one turned down by the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) almost one year ago, is holding tanks for sewage, Sumatara’s Planner, Richard Zalinka, told the audience. Woodcarving Museum’s newest exhibit features depiciton of Tecumseh and more
Windsor embodies a collection of diverse cultures and it is important that we embrace and celebrate them. The Windsor Woodcarving Museum’s newest exhibit highlights the artwork and private collection of David Pepper. This exhibit features acquisitions from 14 countries worldwide spanning time from 1350 to present day. Tecumseh’s Caisse Populaire steps up for Hospice Windsor-Essex County
A recent hot dog BBQ at the Tecumseh branch of Caisses Populaires de l’Ontario raised $500 in support of the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County. It’s the first of several fundraisers planned for Hospice. Staff are now compiling a cookbook that will go on sale later this year for the cause. Meeting date set for plans on high school property
An Open House will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Tecumseh Town Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to allow the community to review proposed plans to redevelop the current site of St. Anne High School. The new high school is currently under construction in Lakeshore and student relocation is slated to take place at the end of January in time for the second semester to begin.
