A decade ago, the celebrated opening of Tecumseh Arena, was attended by a crowd of 1,800. Comprised of Rink ‘A’, it brought an end to the iceless era that spanned eight years.
( St. Clair Beach Arena, a private operation built by Bob McWilliams, opened in September, 1968 and closed in the spring of 1987. After serving as an engineering warehouse it was demolished in December 2003 and the plaza 500 Manning Road - at Tecumseh road- was built.)
Tecumseh Arena opened Rink B, in 1998, a joint project of the former Town of Tecumseh, Village of St. Clair Beach and Township of Sandwich South. The three municipalities formed the new Town of Tecumseh, effective January 1, 1999.
