Not content with the status quo of band photos and random artsy shots as album art, Weezer took a new route with their newly released album, Hurley (an ode to television’s Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, Lost’s resident “dude”).

Easy A: good girl gone bad … sort of
Everyone loves a good comedy, and in that respect Easy A does not disappoint. The movie tells the story of a scrupulously ordinary high-schooler, Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone), whose clean reputation becomes unexpectedly tarnished when uber-Christian classmate Marianne (Amanda Bynes) spreads a rumour that she lost her virginity over the weekend. Although Olive was the one who originally started the rumour, this is quickly forgotten as the situation snowballs throughout the first half of the film.
McGill once too many
I despise the “McGill Once, McGill Twice” cheer. The words are as follows:
McGill once, McGill twice, holy fucking Jesus Christ. Wham, bam, God damn, son of a bitch, shit! Three cheers for McGill: Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Three cheers for fucking: McGill! McGill! McGill!
Lunchtime science
For McGill students, Midnight Kitchen is usually the best bet for snagging a free lunch on campus. But for one week at the beginning of each semester, Soup and Science edges out the vegan cooperative, offering free soup, sandwiches, and lectures by some of McGill’s brightest young professors.
Why I still ride my bike on campus
“One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”
—Martin Luther King Jr.
Scrap the Quebec Tuition Model
Unlike some students at McGill, I have been largely satisfied with Heather Munroe-Blum as our Principal. Her administration has brought common sense and innovation to a university defined by bureaucracy and hierarchy. The recent creation of the Service Point, for example, is a welcome change.

Officials are looking for anyone whom the bat may have scratched or bitten. One person was bitten while trying to put the bat in a[Read More…]
Luke Doucet and the White Falcon – Steel City Trawler
The eighth studio album from Luke Doucet, and the second to feature The White Falcon, Steel City Trawler is an unabashed portrait of the magic in the everyday. The album’s straightforward guitar riffs and upbeat melodies, combined with Doucet’s earnest lyrics, form an enjoyable and thoughtful record.
Olive et Gourmando: the Old Port’s Trendiest Lunch Spot
Old Montreal is famous for its history and French vibe, and, unfortunately, its overpriced food. Tourists abound in this part of the city, and restauranteurs have taken note, feeling free to charge as much as $5 for an ice cream cone. Olive et Gourmando is one of the few café-bistros left that doesn’t cater to tourists or charge outrageous prices.
Martlets come within one point of champion Western
Saturday’s McGill Open at the bottom of Mount Royal Park marked the beginning of the 2010 season for the McGill Martlets and Redmen cross-country teams. The Martlets finished in second place overall, only one point shy of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs, a cross-country powerhouse. The Redmen placed fourth[Read More…]
