Lauren Hudak

“My name is Lauren Hudak and I am running for VP University Affairs. As your VP, I will continue to push for greater student representation within athletics; for an improvement in student services, particularly within health services and student aid; and for more stimulating learning environments by lowering the student-to-faculty ratio. Given this position’s demanding nature, I will use my extensive SSMU experience as the former Speaker of Council and current Science Representative in order to efficiently work in an impartial manner, to effectively represent my constituents, and to embark on practical initiatives. Vote Lauren Hudak for VP University Affairs!”

Cathal Rooney-Cespedes

Please note that Cathal D. Rooney-Cespedes has been sanctioned for having a campaign website online before the campaign period.

The function of the Students’ Society is to provide excellence in service, representation, and leadership for undergraduate students, and that is exactly what I plan to do. Student politics has been dominated by too frequent debates of us versus them, right versus wrong, and a combative mentality that I am simply incapable of performing. As President, I will perform my duties by coupling my passion for student life with real pragmatism, and by recognizing that as a community of students, we hold more than strength in numbers – we also have a wealth of knowledge. Let’s put it to work.

Essayons d’y parvenir ensemble!

Emily Yee Clare

As VP University-Affairs, I will provide holistic, innovative solutions to student issues across all levels of McGill governance. My experience working with both McGill’s administration and SSMU will ensure that students have strong representation at the negotiating table. I will foster a culture of school spirit and community by promoting student public art on campus and improving support to international students. Furthermore, I will work to ensure accessible education, by advocating for increased number of work study positions and representing students against proposed tuition hikes.

Let’s keep McGill accountable to its commitment to being a ‘Student-Centred University’: VOTE Emily Clare.

Maggie Knight

Please note that Maggie Knight has been sanctioned for contacting campus groups prior to the opening of the campaign period.

Hello! I’m Maggie, a BASc Environment & Economics student from Victoria, BC. With over 3 years’ SSMU experience as Councillor and Environment Commissioner, I know SSMU inside-out. As a leader within many campus groups, I also know SSMU outside-in. I want to lead a friendlier SSMU where every student has a voice. I’ll fight tuition hikes, increase accountability and accessibility with better communications, spearhead consultation on the big issues through a series of strategic summits, strengthen direct democracy, create a unified Sustainability Strategy, and streamline SSMU’s cumbersome legislation and policies. GET REAL: leadership, consultation, sustainability, experience. Vote Knight for President!

Salut!

The position of VP Finance & Operations requires an analytical individual with a unique and diverse set of financial, accounting, and strategizing skills, coupled with strong motivation and exceptional organization. If elected, I plan on devoting myself to creating sound budgets for all SSMU departments, allowing all 19 SSMU services to continue running for all students that seek their benefits next fiscal year. As a finance major with a concentration in accounting, I feel confident in my abilities to sustain and improve Gerts’ recent profitability and look forward to overseeing the transformation of our beloved bar with this summer’s renovations.

Hey McGill! My priority as your VP Internal is maintaining student independence. My goal is to encourage more involvement from the McGill community at large. I am passionate about integrating clubs and organizations into the planning process. Why not have Midnight Kitchen cater events? Or the Film Society help organize Movies in the Park? My passion for student life stems from my involvement with Frosh as a Science Coordinator and my position on the Orientation Working Group, which has spent the year developing a new integrated Frosh. I am committed to promoting sustainability in events and life on campus.

Salut McGill!

McGill needs a better sense of community. It is time for our events to cater to all students, to build rapport with university administration, and to foster a sense of McGill identity. Being AUS VP External has given me a broad range of experiences. As VP Internal, I will sponsor a guest-speakers series, a student art gallery, off-campus events for those who live at home, and more. Sustainability, financial responsibility, and equity must be priorities for all SSMU events. I will work closely with faculty associations and student groups to create a calendar of events that is exciting and inclusive.

Monika Fabian

Please note that Monika Fabian has been sanctioned for sending unsolicited emails to seek endorsements from campus groups.

It’s important for our students to have opportunities for involvement outside the classroom.  Monika Fabian has strong background experience in ensuring that these opportunities continue to be bountiful and accessible within the SSMU.  She has worked for, participated in, and managed clubs campus-wide throughout her undergraduate career.  She also has a fair outlook on how SSMU should be representing each club equally; and, most importantly, she has many ideas to improve SSMU’s existing system to better the clubs and services’ infrastructure.  Vote for experience, equality and innovation.  Vote Monika Fabian.

Carol Fraser

Please note that Carol Fraser has been sanctioned for putting up unapproved campaign posters.

I’m Carol Fraser, and I’m running for VP Clubs and Services because I’m passionate about student life and student-run initiatives. As VP I’d improve Midnight Kitchen’s new 302 space, foster the development of community-building clubs and services, continue sustainable renovations to Shatner and above all support the groups that make McGill more than just about academics. I’m friendly, organized and committed, qualities I’ve used this past year as MK’s volunteer co-coordinator, and as an active member of Mobilization McGill, at the forefront of student voice on campus. I will work collaboratively with my fellow students, especially transparently explaining policies and procedures.
