Redmen return to McConnell Arena, roll over Ottawa
For the better part of an hour on Saturday night, it looked as if the McGill men’s hockey team’s vaunted offensive play had failed to carry over into the new decade. But the Redmen reminded everyone in attendance why they are ranked fifth in the nation as they turned on the jets late in the game, scoring twice in the final three minutes to stun the visiting Ottawa Gee-Gees, 3-1.

As a recent graduate of McGill, I’ve been reflecting on the time I’ve spent over the past five years trying to organize for social change in a university context. I have heard people say that universities are fertile ground for this kind of activity, and it’s not hard to see why: thousands of young people in close social proximity to each other, many of them in a new place, encountering new ways of thinking about the world.
